The Virus

The Virus

We must help her.
We must save her.
For she will die.
If we don’t stop the virus,
Where will her future lie?

Her lungs that of trees are ravaged, so she cannot breathe,
Her blood is that of oceans, fill with toxic debris.

We must help her.
We must save her.
For she will die.
But the virus, unaware of its destruction, continues to multiply.

Her skin burns hot from the sun, as the virus leaves her defenseless,
Her natural attempts to shake this pesky bug commences.

We must help her.
We must save her.
For she will die.
If we don’t stop the virus,
Where will her future lie?

Her fever rises,
When will it break?
When the virus has consumed all and there is nothing left to take.

She will find a cure for her sickness, she will soon be free…you see…
The virus is me.
The virus has a name,
She calls It…humanity.

For it is us that will die…we are going away,
Just as all those before us,
It is nature’s way.
She will go on, the virus a distant memory,
And all that will remain, will be her plastic scars,
For the next self righteous virus to see.

“Viruses are very small intracellular parasites that invade the cells of virtually all known organisms. They reproduce by utilizing the cell’s machinery to replicate viral proteins and genomic material, generally damaging or killing the host cell in the process.” – Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology

Virus: A virus invades living cells and uses their chemical machinery to keep itself alive and to replicate itself.
